This sandwich puzzle contains 4 layers of fillings which are interchangeable, so children can choose their favourites and create their own individual sandwich. Each Puzzle comes as a set of 4 sandwiches with a total of 12 sliced, grated and spreadable ingredients: ham (2 pieces), lettuce (3 pieces), tomato (4 pieces) ,cheese (3 pieces), egg (4 pieces), chicken (4 pieces), cucumber (3 pieces), carrot (3 pieces), beetroot (3 pieces), avocado (4 pieces), vegemite (5 pieces), and peanut butter (5 pieces). There are 47 pieces all together including 4 triangles of healthy grain bread as the lid.
Puzzles with more than one layer have more than one objective. The many layers will increase the difficulty of the task and they allow children to understand more than one angle of the concept being taught. Children have difficulty with concepts that are not easy to see, showing them on different layers gives the concept has more clarity. The concept of layers builds on the child’s excitement of discovery, the hidden layers encouraging them to look deeper.
