Change the expressions on the clown`s face. If you are grumpy you can give the clown a grumpy face, or make him smile and laugh. Children can express their feelings and bring the clown to life. The Clown is also a puzzle, and can be used over and over again. I have put 3-4 years as the starting age, but the Clown is a universal figure and can be used by people of all ages. This Flat Tray wooden puzzle has finger holes to help remove the mouth pieces which change the expression on the Clown's face. But, remember it is always recommended to remove the pieces by "Tip and Turning" as described on the sticker on the back of the puzzle.
Raised Piece Puzzles are the next step after Pegs. The puzzle pieces are raised higher than the frame background which allows small fingers to easily manipulate the pieces. This extends fine motor development. Puzzles help children to develop a range of skills. These include visual motor skills, proprioception, vestibular, tactile and fine motor. These skills are all pre-reading essentials and are extremely important in early childhood development.
