The Koala is an animal unique to Australia. It is a quiet non aggressive animal which lives high in the gum trees and eats the leaves of specific trees. This 3 D puzzle has two layers, the top layer depicts a Koala and her baby whilst the bottom layer has removable pieces which allow the child to build their own Koala. This is an excellent 3 D learning experience. When they are finished playing, the pieces are easily put back into the puzzle.
Puzzles with more than one layer have more than one objective. The many layers will increase the difficulty of the task and they allow children to understand more than one angle of the concept being taught. Children have difficulty with concepts that are not easy to see, showing them on different layers gives the concept has more clarity. The concept of layers builds on the child’s excitement of discovery, the hidden layers encouraging them to look deeper.
Puzzles with more than one layer are an exciting experience and also increase the task of sorting, which is an important skill in grasping mathematical concepts. Multi-layers also show what is beneath the surface or another view or what is inside which will increase a child’s learning experience. These puzzles are an extension of the flat tray puzzle teaching children all the basic skills they need. Development of skills such as visual motor, proprioception, vestibular, tactile and fine motor, all pre-reading and mathematical skills. These are essential for a child’s early childhood development.
